What’s happening MHC?

To All Participants and Friends of Borobudur InterHash 2012.

Please share this correspondence widely with all in Hashdom.

INTERHASH START-UP FUNDS AND BOROBUDUR INTERHASH 2012

The Management Committee of the Borobudur InterHash 2012 is committed to providing an affordable and fun InterHash for all who attend.  We have prepared some of the best InterHashing in the world for you to enjoy with some of friendliest Hashers on earth.  We are committed to achieving this outcome regardless of any situation concerning the transfer of InterHash start-up funds from Kuching InterHash 2010.

Since the first InterHash at Hong Kong during 1978, respective management committees have established and developed a start-up fund to support the next InterHash and provide for financial emergencies.  Customarily, each InterHash Committee has remitted start-up funding to the following InterHash soon after the completion of the preceding InterHash.

In keeping with this custom and as soon as possible after InterHash 2008, the Perth InterHash Committee properly transferred US$25,000.00 to the Management Committee of InterHash 2010 in Kuching for the purposes of start-up funding.

Kuching Interhash 2010 accounts available to Borobudur InterHash 2012 reveal that an amount of Malaysian Ringgit 100,000.00 was reserved for transfer to Borobudur but the amount remains in a Kuching Interhash 2010 bank account.

No start-up funds have been remitted from Kuching to Borobudur InterHash 2012.

The Borobudur InterHash 2012 Management Committee has written seeking the co-operation of the following parties to rectify this situation:

(i)            selected members of the Kuching InterHash 2010 Committee;

(ii)           the Chairman of the Hornbill Hash;

(iii)       the Chairman of the Malaysian Hash Council;

(iv)       the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism and Heritage, Sarawak; and

(v)        the solicitors who acted for and on behalf of the Hornbill Hash House (ROS Regn no. 0478-08-SWK) in the matter of the closure of the “InterHash Project 2010 Discharge of Treasurer”.

Despite these requests and now less than two weeks prior to the beginning of InterHash 2012, the Management Committee of Kuching InterHash 2010 has failed to remit any InterHash start-up funds in accordance with the fiduciary responsibilities of its Members.  Because of this unacceptable situation but principally because such start-up funding remains the property of the InterHash Community and not the property of InterHash 2010 Kuching, Borobudur InterHash 2012 decided to share this correspondence with the InterHash community.

The Management Committee of Borobudur InterHash 2012 believes the actions of the Kuching InterHash Committee of Management reflect poorly on ALL members of the Malaysian Hash Community, not just the Kuching InterHash Committee; the Hornbill Hash and the Malaysian Hash Council.  After all, the Malaysian Hash Council found it necessary to intervene in the management of Kuching InterHash 2010 when it considered there were significant divisions within the Committee of Management.  We urge all Malaysian Hashers to instruct their respective Hash Office Bearers to demand that the Kuching InterHash 2010 Committee immediately remits the InterHash start-up funding to the nominated bank account of Borobudur InterHash 2012.

The Borobudur InterHash 2012 Management Committee also expects the Kuching InterHash 2010 Management Committee to provide a detailed, audited and public explanation of the particular bank balance in Kuching which “stands at almost RM 600,000” and any plans to disburse that extraordinary amount of money which is the outcome of InterHash Kuching 2010.  (The Borobudur InterHash 2012 Management Committee will publish any explanation provided in the best interests of InterHash.)

The Borobudur InterHash 2012 Management Committee also considers that the failure of Kuching InterHash 2010 Committee to remit the start-up funds threatens future Malaysian Federal Government support for and funding of the Yayasan (Foundation) Hash Heritage which aims “to rebuild The Hash House for use as a recreational centre for the interest of the people and hashers both locally and worldwide and maintaining and preserving The Hash House”. http://www.thehashhouse.org/management/intro_FAQ.html The next Annual General Meeting (AGM) of this Yayasan is scheduled for 30 May 2012 and attendees of that AGM are urged to remain mindful of this threat resulting from the actions of Malaysian Hash members to its future.

While the start-up funds remain in the bank accounts of Kuching InterHash 2010, the Borobudur InterHash 2012 Management Committee considers it is highly unlikely that the hosting rights of any future Hash events of regional and/or international significance will be granted to Malaysian Hash Clubs.  This will lead to the potential for Malaysian Hashing to become isolated in an international context which is a sad outcome for the only nation able to claim the title of Home of the Hash House Harriers.

Finally, the Borobudur InterHash 2012 Management Committee wishes to remind you of its aim to provide what it believes will be the best possible InterHash in the unique natural and built environments of Borobudur.  The Borobudur InterHash 2012 Management Committee believes that all in attendance will enjoy an affordable and fun InterHash despite the failure of the InterHash Kuching 2010 Committee to transfer the InterHash start-up funds from its bank account to Borobudur InterHash 2012.  We urge you all to enjoy Borobudur InterHash 2012 and your stay in Indonesia.

Yours sincerely

Missing Hasher Kichi Bayee finally found in Templer’s Park

May 12th, 2012

Templer’s Park Sunday May 13, 11:45am

Hardip Singh, who got lost during a Hash House Harrier
run in Templer Park on May 9, has been found alive Sunday.

It is learnt that Hardip Singh was located by a team of rescuers at
about noon. Veggiehash’s Alka who was there reported back at 11.45 am that Hardip was finally spotted by an Orang Alsi search party.

Selangor state executive councillor Elizabeth Wong said Hardip Singh
suffered a shoulder injury from the ordeal.

She said staff of the Selangor Forestry Department, Fire and Rescue
unit and Rawang police led the search.

Hardip Singh has been sent to the hospital for observation.

Itchy Bayee Hardip Singh in good hands

Fron the NST:

RAWANG: HIKER Hardip Singh, 51, who went missing in Taman Rimba Templer in Rawang here since Wednesday, was found safe yesterday morning.

He had a dislocated left shoulder and a sprained ankle.

The Shell Trading executive smiled when he was discovered by four rescuers sitting in the middle of a tributary 3km deep in the jungle.

Soong Chee Keong, 38, who went in with his friend and two Orang Asli on Saturday evening in search of Hardip, said the victim had a smile on his face as they approached him.

“Although he was exhausted and in pain, Hardip laughed and told us about his ordeal. He was happy to know that he could finally go home.

“After four days in the jungle with a broken shoulder, he had a strong spirit of survival,” said the carpenter.

Mat Rindu, 30, from Kampung Orang Asli Bukit Lagong, said they continued searching for Hardip at 9am, and noticed a figure in the tributary after walking several kilometres.

“When we approached him, Hardip was sitting in the shallow water with his head looking down. He was resting there waiting for help.

“We lifted him and took him to the bank,” he said, adding that he took about an hour to return to the search and rescue operations centre.

A team of rescue workers — comprising officers from the Gombak police department, General Operations Force, state Fire and Rescue Department, Kuala Lumpur Civil Defence Department and Forestry Department — was dispatched to the site to provide medical treatment and bring Hardip out.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said the victim had fallen 3m down a hill while walking on its slope on Wednesday.

It was reported that he had gone in on his own to the park about 6pm on Wednesday to lay out a trail for Hash House Harrier’s club weekend activities.

“The victim told his rescuers that he could still walk after the fall, but it got worse until he had to drag his body to move.

“He tried to look for his way out of the jungle, but became exhausted and could not move much. He reached the tributary and waited for help there.”

Hardip’s wife, J. Lallsur Madhumalasur, 44, said she was relieved upon being told about the finding at 1pm.

“At first, after several days of dejection, I felt like losing hope.

“Luckily, I have supportive friends and family members here, who waited with me at the operations centre since Friday. They gave me moral support.

“I thank God and everyone who spent their time and effort to locate my husband. It is something that we can never repay. Thank you very much to all.”

Kelab Aman HHH grand master Sarbjit Singh said the club members were thankful to the authorities and volunteers.

“Hardip has been our member since 13 years ago. This incident is a shock as he was not supposed to go there alone.

“Luckily, he was found. Thank you to everyone who helped us.”

The New Straits Times went to the location and saw rescue workers carrying Hardip, who was wearing a white rescue helmet, on a stretcher out from the jungle-trekking trail at 2.35pm.

Hardip was given medical aid, including having a splint administered on his left arm, by civil defence officers before an ambulance rushed him to Selayang Hospital.

Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rahim Abdullah said medical checks showed that Hardip suffered a dislocated shoulder and minor wounds on his legs.

He is being warded at the hospital.

Brussels 2014 – an update

September 26th, 2011
Dear Brussels 2014 supporters,

I’m delighted to report we have now well over 1,000 committed hashers onboard! But there’s more…

* Pre-registered list on-line

Check the News section on our website  www.interhash2014.com to find out who has joined the bandwagon so far.

The list published is sorted by country and not in real-time mode. It will be updated around the 15th of each month from now on until the end of the year when our pledge offer terminates.

Next sales locations are Washington DC (DC Red Dress Run), Savannah (InterAmerica), Hirano (Japan Nash Hash), Luang Prabang (Mekong Indochina), Colombo (South Asia InterHash), Genting Highlands (Klang’s 30th Anniversary), Bandung (Pan Asia) and Singapore.

* Trails status

We initially shortlisted 60 potential run areas in and around Brussels and are now busy recceing/vetting the Top 30.

We are looking for visiting kennels interested in haring one of these trails. Requirements are to provide 6 good hares from the same kennel/area who will commit to recce and lay the assigned trail together with a Brussels-based hasher.

If you want to volunteer your group and take the leadership please send a message to: trailmaster2014@gmail.com

* Supporting events status

We are also looking for kennels willing to organise a pre- or post-ramble on their own turf within the two weeks before or after Brussels 2014 (25-27 July). We don’t need a firm commitment at this stage, just a show of interest.

If your kennel is keen on entertaining visiting hashers the world over and ready to roll-up their sleeves please share your idea with us by sending a message to: brussels2014@gmail.com

* Brussels 2014 a Stray Dog-free zone

We received many querries re. recent e-mails from Stray Dog proclaiming first that the real InterHash 2012 is in Mombasa, Kenya instead of Jogjakarta, Indonesia then advertising a new yearly World InterHash with a 2012 edition in Orlando, USA. I will not waste your time further on this subject, just be aware it’s all bullsh*t and Stray Dog has neither authority nor support whatsoever.

The World InterHash 2012 remains in Jogjakarta - where the vote for World InterHash 2014 will take place – with The Great Hash Migration in Mombasa as a pre-ramble. Two big events on two continents worth attending if you can afford the time and airline fare. The next World InterHash will be taking place in 2014 and will be hosted by either Brussels, Fiji or Hainan. Good luck to all candidates!

* Brussels 2014 … regardless

Just confirming what you should have heard already: the Brussels 2014 event will take place in the midst of European summer whether we win the bid for the World InterHash or not. We have enough serious interest already to make it the biggest European hash event of the decade.

So tell your hash buddies to mark their agenda and wet their appetite for Belgian beers, Belgian chocolate, European wines and a food fest.

On On to InterAmerica!
Higgins, Brussels 2014 Chairman

Pan Asia 2013 – the race has been won!

November 19th, 2011

The bidding for Pan Asia Hash 2013 reached feverish pitch culminating in an overwhelming win by Malacca Monkeys/Pattaya Jungle Monkeys – congratulations to the winner! They can be reached here, http://www.panasia2013.com/

On a disturbing note, there are ample rumours and allegations flying around that one of the contestants played dirty and/or cheated by using multiple proxies and of some non-existent chapters and inspite of that, they were trumped into a convincing loss. We say boo to cheaters and liars – avoid them like the plague.

One wonders about this new trend where losers still have their ‘alternate’ function as a pre lube or post lube. This is a disturbing trend as it signifies a sore loser – if I can’t do PanAsia, I will do my own version! One also wonders what kind of party such losers will give you. Perhaps in future, before you sign up and pay ask them if the entry fee is refundable should they lose the bid.

Play a straight game and lose, that’s OK but to cheat so openly and they lose, that’s just plain shameful. Cheaters weepers!
