Veggiehash has no members – every Veggiehash run is a loose gathering of like-minded hashers from diverse chapters across Malaysia. Veggiehash is run by four of the six original founders and everyone pays only RM10.00 for the run which includes dinner. All are welcome. Dogs and children (provided they are accompanied by adult hashers) are okay depending on the run location. If in doubt, please check with Tarzan on 012 222 2209.

As usual, please bring a change of clothes, bathing water if you want to bathe and chairs or stools if you don’t want to stand. If it’s the rainy season, don’t forget your hash raincoat or umbrella. Feel free to pass on this info to anyone who may be interested in hashing. If you’re a new hasher or are unfit, understand what a hash run entails before attempting the run on your own. Always sign out (and sign in when you return) so we’ll know if anyone’s lost.

  • Feb 7, 2010 Sunday 5.30pm
  • RM10.00 for the run & dinner
  • RM10.00 for 3 cans of beer

Whoa what a riotous run with over 45 hashers taking part! Hare Mighty Croc (Amarjit) did a wonderful job of setting a tricky trail but alas only the few determined hashers who followed paper religiously were rewarded with a second jungle. Food was generously supplied by Amarjeet and Farooque said it was his best meal at Veggiehash ever. There was ample whiskey and beers and the night went on till 1am for some lucky souls who did not have to work the next day. A memorable do!

Jack, Tarzan & Jane’s Account of the Penang Ballbreaker

January 6th, 2010

Whoa 25 kilometres of hills, hills and more hills!

9.30 am saw nearly 200 eager ballbreakers take off. Only 30 percent of this number are fated to succeed in the quest to complete this grueling test of the human body. This ballbreaker was originally touted to be 25 km or so but a week before the event, an email from the organisers proclaiming a shortened run of 21 or so km made the rounds. However on the event date, this was not to be. Perhaps due to pressure from die hard ballbrakers, the original run length was restored albeit in a shroud of uncertainty.

The first water stop appeared only after 12 km. This would lead me to speculate that the extra 4 km was “bolted on” to the front part of the trail. Tarzan who did not carry and water or 100 plus had to exit at this 12 km first water stop along with a dozen other hashers. The organisers were caught unawares here as they did not expect anyone to drop out the the first water stop. Perhaps if this water stop was adjusted to 8-9 kms, there would have been plenty more “survivors”.

Jack and Alka made it through the second water stop (about 16 kms) in the nick of time and completed the full trail. Congrats Jack and Alka, you have made Veggiehash proud!

We were in the company of RSC Hashers and one of them, Dr. Jens took these GPS snapshots:
